Car finance trouble with the car

Bought a car on finance from Evan Halshaws (first mistake) and 3-4 weeks into owning it I gave them a list of problems I wanted sorting as the gear box was terrible at switching gear, Low mpg and other problems. They took the car back for 16 days and when it came back it was no different to before it went!!!!
Long story short, I notified trading standards and my finance company and eventually they sent out an assessor that identified problems with the car. A long battle with Evans and they agreed to replace the car for something else...that was 3 months ago. They dont reply to phone calls or emails and I am at the end of my tether with it all.
Can I tell my finance company that I wont make another payment until this is sorted out or will it just impact my credit rating? I dont know any other option. Has anyone been in the same boat and what outcome did you get?

The assessor agreed there was problems with the car but couldn't say they were present at the time of purchase. This gave me 2 options, have the car repaired again or chose another car. If I could I would drive to Evans and throw them the keys back!!!

Just rang the finance company and they have "washed their hands of it" and any further action needs to be taken by me direct to the dealership.

Of course out will affect your Credit fIle if you stop payments.
what would you do if you had paid cash for it?

Send them a letter (recorded delivery) stating that unless they contact you with a suitable replacement within 14 days you will proceed with court action to recover your costs.

Is there any reason that you cannot visit them and talk about this face to face?

The finance is completely separate from the issues you have with the car. If you stop paying the finance company, out of a sense of frustration and pique, it will only come back and bite you on the bum. Your argument is with Evan Halshaws and, as been suggested, you should threaten them with court action if the car when sold to you was not fit for purpose.

Is there another car there that is suitable? If not I'd ask them for a refund.

Keep paying the finance; it's not dependent on the car.

They've told you what your options are, and offering to replace/repair the car is pretty reasonable. I'd just go back to the dealership and pick a suitable car to replace it with.
Credit 'Score' - Don't buy the credit 'score' that Experian, Equifax and Noddle want to sell you. It's an arbitrary number that means nothing when it comes to applying for credit.

ALWAYS HAVE A DIRECT DEBIT SET UP FOR THE MINIMUM PAYMENT ON YOUR CREDIT CARDS, REGARDLESS OF WHETHER YOU PLAN TO LOGIN AND PAY EACH MONTH.

I have been waiting over 3 months now for them to sort at a replacement vehicle. I am now told the guy dealing with it has "left the company" and had closed the case so head office wouldnt find out about my issue. He was ducking my calls and emails for 3 months. The garage isnt local which is why I havent drove back to see them.

I have never been able to understand the logic of buying a car miles away from where you live. Just asking for trouble I would think.
I can afford anything that I want.
Just so long as I don't want much.
