I bought 2 cars from ebay in the last 3 years and both were good deals and very good cars. Once I won the auction, I will travel to see and test drive the car to see if its all ok and as described. If there are any major fault I would just walk away. Winning the auction doesn't commit me to buy if the item is not as described.0

Does your Renault still have an engine ? I mean is it still running ?
What is the relevance of this question to ur original post. ( I see now about you having to spend the money on a new engine) but I assume the car did have an engine and was in running order...IF NOT why did you buy?
Like others have said if you buy a car from a private seller, you have to be careful, if you want a warranty and some come back you have to pay more and go to a dealer. I fail to see how ebay are at fault0
