Loan or balance transfer.
Hi,
I would like to take advantage of the goverment fund to improve the house energy eficiency. The problem is that you have to pay upfront before you get the fund from the Goverment. I've been told it should take less than a month for the goverment to give you the money of the fund.
I would get 7000 pound for the fund, exactly the same money I would need to borrow to pay upfront.
My question is, what is the best way to get money for such a short time. I was looking at doing through balance transfer, to pay around 2% in the money they let me and pay when I get the fund from the goverment, or even in a few more months. In the bank (Lloyds) they told me that I need to have debts to have that option. I am a bit confused so I thought to ask the experts
. What would people do? Is my only option a loan? even if I need it for a month? Any suggestions.
Many Thanks

AFAIK there are no "government funds" that pay for energy efficiency improvements now - the current Green Deal is a loan scheme itself.
If someone is offering to ~give~ you £7k then it sounds like a classic "advance fee" scam to me...0
