Hi guys,

I'm new to the forum but was wondering I have been trying to gain the best deal for laser eye surgery. Reviewing previous posts, I can see that the prices use to be very competitive - in the range of £1000s - but this was years ago (circa 2009).

I have searched around. Optical Express best price was £2695 for their equivalent LASIK Intralase with Wavefront, the . I have now received an offer from Optimax for the same procedure at £1995.

I spoke to the receptionist who said that the lowest offer she has in 4 years. However, I found this article from the Advertising Standard's Agency (ASA) which stated that £1,995 has been around since 2011. I was wondering if anyone has any vouchers for Optimax to lower this price or knows of anyway to lower the price further? Also what sort of prices people are paying these days?

Many thanks for your help. :)

  • Hi PTP

I had my surgery over two years ago now at Optical Express:LASIK with wavefront and intralase, I think they have more impressive technology now though and it’s called something else – although I have no complaints about the old stuff, two years on I am still 20/20 #noproblem #happydays

The price of mine was @ £2,400 for low-ish prescription but high astigmatism.

I went for consults at Optimax and Ultralase too – Ultralase price was though the roof, Optimax was pretty much on par.

Have you been for a consultation with both? Who were you most comfortable with? Have you asked Optical Express if they will price match? I seem to remember they were willing to haggle a bit J

Good luck – you won’t regret it, I still get a kick over buying £10 sunglasses...and seeing what the hairdresser is actually doing to my hair ha ha
  • Thanks! Ultralase has been bought by Optimax now except they have onr branded store on Harley Street.. I tried Optical Express and felt more comfortable with Optimax - they gave me more time and allowed me to ask questions. Anyone had a 2 for 1 deal with them at all?
