Can I Still Eat This?

Please delete if not allowed, sorry...

I cooked some new potatoes last night (Sunday) with butter and put them in the fridge, I also have some chicken that has been in the fridge since Friday.

Can I put this in together for packed lunch on Tuesday or is it going to be off by then?

Trying to start eating more than just cheese butties, haven't been living on my own long and ask some probably embarrassingly obvious questions sometimes. But better to ask if you don't know..?

Thank you xx

I would say cooked chicken should last at least 4 days in the fridge, so you should be okay.
I would be perfectly happy up to a week

dlusman- thanks :) means I get to have a slightly more exciting lunch tomorrow, as long as OH hasn't decided to eat it for his dinner while at mine today.

This page suggests 3 or 4 days for cooked meats/poultry

I would actually careful about the chicken, esp if it is likely to be out of the fridge for any length of time as a packed lunch on Tuesday. The warn weather will see it breed bugs fast.

Most meals can stay for quite some while, however you must them always properly reheat them (not in a microwave).

Also how you cook & store the chicken is the key.

I can store a chicken that can easily stay in fridge for a 4 days and I can make a chicken that will be "inedible" the next day...

I use a microwave to heat up chicken that I've stored in the fridge and it's fine.

Storing cooked chicken in a fridge always dries it out though, so I try eat the next day if possible.

Yes you absolutely can reheat chicken in a microwave - it just has to be heated through properly. The method of heating is completely irrelevant.

And if it looks good, smells good, a small portion tastes good, you can eat any leftovers - regardless of whether they're chicken or not. And it will be fine till lunchtime if you take it out the fridge in the morning.
