tesco and cheques

has anyone heard anything about tesco stopping cheques has a form of payment?

    Our local Tescos have not accepted cheques since much earlier this year. There is another thread running over on the warnings (or vent, not sure which board) you might want to add to.

  • I hope this helps, I have worked for Tesco for the last 15 years on the checkout and I haven't heard anything about them not taking cheques. when I was at work yesterday (Friday) we were still taking them.

    i've heard its the 1st aug they stop taking them

    These days for a small business, and im guessing larger also they are not worth it, i dont like accepting them anymore, i dont have the time to go the bank each time i receive one, its the cost of someones time, travel and parking to get to the bank to pay a cheque in, it just isnt worth it these days. Its a worthless bit of paper till its in your account, ive had cheques bounce in the past and its not good. Not counting the fees the bank charge in the first place for accepting my cheque!

    Yeah, let's face it, they're a bit of an outdated method of payment these days.

    I would think each area is stopping them individually then since as I posted above my local Tescos have not taken them for a while.
