13.7.07 what small dfw thing will you do or have you done today?

Hello lovely DFWers - old timers and newbies. TGI Friday:j

When we start out on the DFW trail we do loads of "big stuff" that makes quite a difference to our situation. These include having our lightbulb moment, cutting up the credit cards and cancelling Sky and the gym.

But once we have done the bigger stuff, we often feel that we are not making the same amount of progress, when in fact the small steps are helping us form good financial habits and helping us get closer everyday to staying in control and becoming debt free.

Examples could be charging your phone up at work instead of at home to save your electricity, hanging the washing out instead of using the tumble dryer or leaving your purse/wallet at home to avoid the risk of spending.

So be proud of those small steps, they really are important.

Today I will do the following:

- send everyone with pack ups
- do storecupboard meal from mealplan
- check online banking and update spreadsheet
- do next stage of HSBC charges reclaim
- calculate charges for Barclaycard and issue claim
- do clicks and surveys
- do matched bet
- pay my bills
- arrange car insurance through quidco
- not increase my debt in any way
- be positive!

Have a good day, everyone xx

My husband is going away on a 7 week residential course and will only be home at weekends so I thought this would be the perfect opportunity to save some money on our food bill as his meals with be provided at the hotel.

At the weekend I’m going to go through the freezer and cuboards and see how many meals I can create without shopping. I can see some real savings to be had. Plus I fancy trying this ‘special k’ drop a jean size thing, so that will save on the pack lunch!

Evening! Come on peeps, there aren't many posts on here and this is such a great thread. Think really hard now - I bet you have done *something* money saving today even if you think it is too small to post, come on post it anyway! We all want to know! :D (OK well, I do..!)

    Well my things were:

    * I got a lift home from work - I was walking to bus stop and a colleague stopped so saved me £1.50.

    * Took a HM lunch to work.

    * I am drying washing on line.

    * I put a cardigan on instead of putting heating on - yep it's July but it's chilly in my house!

    * QuidCo searches & piggy comps.

    * Made a big healthy HM soup for dinner and we had it with a lovely big taste the difference bread which I got for 60p a while ago and stuck in the freezer! :D Put the left over soup in a container for lunch tomorrow (I made far too much).

    * Banked £6! This was money left over from a night out on Wednesday.

    * Am staying in tonight.

    * Trying to rearrange a job interview as I have been invited to one on a day & time I just cannot make.

    * Used some free hair product that a friend gave me yesterday.

    Charged my mobile at work

Got a £4.98 refund back for returning an item

Boots: T&G mini, 2 x Pearl drops toothpaste BOGOF, Rapid whitening stick, Essential Aromatherapy mini sample set £7.76 (and 224 points back)

Used my Boots points to buy a glasses cleaner thing (£1.75)

Asda: set of 2 x baby vest tops reduced to £2, bath towel, cheese snacks. Total £6.83, less £5 baby voucher so paid £1.83 cash. :j

Sold something which will probably just make me 80p once paypal/ postage fees are taken but better than nothing.

Transferred just over £11 from Rpoints to my bank account. :T

    Did a few RPoint clicks.

Finally installed some free anti virus software.

Brought DH crisps from M&S using a gift voucher I already have in my purse instead of spending cash. :A

    Found 1p
