I'll get on to the APRs asap, when I find these out what can I do? What does that info allow me to do?

Normal advice is to put any extra towards the highest interest debt. This will save you the most money long term. Once you have paid one off, direct that payments towards the next highest.

Another option would be to pay off the 3 smallest debts (Shopto, Next and O/D). This will give you a confidence boost and allow you to use those payments towards the higher interest debts.

Is anyone able to recommend any potential second jobs to help boost my income? I'd be happy to do some extra work but unsure where to look.

Anything, bar work, supermarket and other local retail, etc.

  • Regarding extra work, if your IT literate (as you mention coding skills) you could try People Per Hour (web site where people post odd jobs, such as iT work etc). Also make your skills and willingness to work known in your community, make up a few notes and post them at the post office, library and grocery shops etc, walk into local businesses to have a word and offer your IT skills. Have your own web site helps too if you can make one for little or no cost. Just make sure to stay on the right side of the law tax wise, you don't want additional stress from the taxman.

When I was seriously down on my luck I started babysitting and made enough to cover my grocery budget. Not sure how easy it is for men to get this kind of work but just wanted to show how I got creative when I was in need. There could be handy man type jobs available or gardening jobs. I'm sure there are needy elderly who could do with a hand. Maybe put up posters to that effect in church halls etc.

Sounds like you have the right attitude, good luck to you.
Finally had my eyes opened and I am ready to tackle my debts!
