Wedding venues Wiltshire

HI everyone,
I have recently got engaged and we are looking to get married in May/June 2015. The only thing that seems to want to eat our budget is the venue - every costs a bomb and I just don't know where to start looking 'off the beaten track', so does anyone have any ideas?
We both like the thought of a barn (or a marquee in someones field, but would need electricity etc).
Can anyone help out with potential venues/hotels which are 'known' wedding venues, and aren't stupidly expensive? I'm a florist, so flowers are the only thing I have properly covered
Any help/suggestions/advice would be great.
Thank you
Steena

Can't help with a venue, I'm afraid, but if you're banking on your photographer getting some snaps during the ceremony, you ought to know that Wiltshire doesn't allow any photography at all during a civil ceremony ...We're all doomed0

My sister is getting married at winkworth farm, near malmsbury, I can't comment on what it's like but she's very happy and it's about £3k to hire (in April). I'm getting married at bowood hotel, which is lovely, but fairly pricey and not what you describe! We also really liked wellington barn between Devizes and Marlborough. Also look at shaw hotel, owl lodge and cleeve house.0

My friend got married and had their reception in Marlborough Town Hall. I found them out for our wedding too:
For the civil ceremony the Court Room (max of 100 people) is £128.00 for a maximum of 2 hours.
You can book the Assembly Room for the reception.
The costs depend on the length of your booking. The charges are as follows - 8.30am-midnight - £460, 1.00pm-midnight - £356 and 6.00pm-midnight - £241 each additional hour midnight-2.00am £48.00
Might be changing prices so best email and confirm!
Hope this helps?
We are having a barn wedding but not in Wiltshire now. I used google maps a lot! I also contacted chiseldon house which seemed very nice and hire came to less than £1,500.
I looked a few including Blunsdon House, Cotswold Water Park – Four Pillars, Cricklade Country Club, Ivy Hotel in Wroughton, Lydiard House and Pear Tree Hotel in Purton. Sorry I hadnt contacted any Wiltshire barns0 -
Hi we're having our reception in Devizes town hall assembly rooms its like a mini pump room in Bath it's very affordable but no outside space. Calne has a lovely town hall and Marden House whitch is very affordable with a little garden.
I hope this helps0
