FTB - how important are past addresses when applying?

Hi,
Single FTB with some advice needed. I'm going to be applying for a mortgage in September and I'd like to know how important accuracy regarding past addresses will be when applying.
Here's why I'm asking.
Since deciding I wanted to buy a place rather than rent, I moved back to my parents nearly three years ago.
In fact, when I'm applying in September it will be 2 years, 11 months since I moved back.
For reasons not worth discussing, applying after September is going to cause me major hassle (as I'm sure some will say why not just wait another month).
There were no issues at all from back when I rented, but given how some lenders seem to scrutinise everything and the smallest thing causes delays and issues, I'm just wondering if it won't be better to say I've been back the full 3 years (as it seems 3 years history is what they're all interested in).
Or is it wiser to be super accurate and declare that 1 month spent renting?
Spoke to a broker (free conversation) and he seemed to think it was advisable to not mention the renting at all and just go with 3 years at parents.
So, advise anyone?
Thanks

Registering on the electoral roll every year is the key. As it provides the link that ties all your records together.0

Okay, thanks for the info. I was registered on the electoral roll when I was renting. Definitely been registered back at the parents place for a couple of years, I'll have to give the electoral roll people to find out exactly when.
Does this sound about right then:
1). If I've been registered on the electoral roll at my parents for near enough 3 years, go with 'at parents for last 3 years'
2). If I've been registered on the electoral roll at my parents for only two years (possible, can't recall dates right now) , best to give details of past rental address where I was previously on the electoral roll.
Thanks everyone, most helpful.0 -
If a lender finds no continuous record (for a period that meets their requirements) then you may well be declined.
If you've applied for credit in any form at another address then the inaccuracy in the application form will most likely be detected. As the data is compared to filter out any attempt to commit fraud. .0 -

Why do you want to hide your rental address?
You need to complete your mortgage application honestly, so, if there was no problem at your previous address, I can't understand your reluctance.
If you are less than honest about your address history, they could pick this up - and you'd be declined.
Why risk that just because you think they might ask a question about your previous address, when you say there is no adverse information held about your old addressEarly retired - 18th December 2014
