O/S Daily Thread Sunday 6th July
This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!

As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or slow internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred. When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.

Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “hi everyone, hope everyone’s well” is fine.

Morning everyone

Birthday wishes to those celebrating a birthday, hope you have a great day x

Hugs and get well wishes to those that want/need them.

Menfolk all still asleep, but not surprising as it’s stupid early, and I’ve woken up and can’t get back to sleep, so got up enjoying a cuppa and peace and quiet whilst I’m on here.

DH will be going to the caravan today to take items back, whilst I visit the SM, the outlaws had the £5 fruit and veg voucher for MrM’s and didn’t need it, so have given it to me and today is the last day to use it, and I do need bread and condensed milk, so will get the fruit and veg whilst I’m there.

Dinner last night was pulled pork, stuffed mushrooms, mixed roasted veg, breaded mushrooms, onion rings, HM coleslaw and herb baguette. I’d bought the baguette the day before and it was going a bit dry, so I made up some herb butter sliced the baguette (but not cutting all the way through so the baguette was still in 1 piece) put the herb butter into each cut, sprinkled water over it, and wrapped it in tin foil, then baked in the oven for 10 mins - and it was perfectly edible. We also had a plate of salad each at lunchtime yesterday so all the food that needed to be used up has now been eaten, so no waste. Lunch today will be roast chicken, roasties, potatoes, carrots, broccolli, cauli, stuffing, Yorkshires and gravy, strawberries and cream for dessert.

Visited both sets of parents yesterday so today can be a chilled day. Won’t be doing too much, once I’ve prepped and cooked the lunch, organised pack ups etc for tomorrow. Will probably spend some time on here as I want to do some more research for our hols and need to sort some vouchers to redeem for some attractions we want to visit.

Have a peaceful Sunday everyone x

Keep safe and well x

Morning nmlc & all who cross post or follow
It's a bit grey here today but not cold, I have the french doors open.
Fish fed, hubby & I have a cuppa, DW going, WM going, first load on the line, fingers crossed it doesn't rain.
I'm still a bit wobbly but better than y'day, hopefully it will all get easier in a couple of weeks, next week is manic, workwise as it always does towards the end of term, plus a couple of hospital appointments & I will need to make the time up (or drown under the workload) hubby's shifts are being messed about with due to staff shortages. But the week after next DD2 will have the car so that makes my life easier as I don't like her struggling on foot as she has SPD so have been helping her out.
Today's plans include some paid alterations, more ironing & cooking a roast dinner.
Have a good day everyone.
Hugs Hester

Morning :hello:

It's mum and dad's anniversary meal today (their anniversary was yesterday) so we're all going to the pub for a meal. We were all asked what date/time/place suits us – eh? It's your meal, you choose! lol – I said if you don't mind when it is, let brother choose in case he needs to arrange a babysitter. I was really hoping he'd pick daytime so little nephew could come and he did :D

Just glanced at my shopping voucher – Morrisons have changed their bonus to £10 off after two x £40 spends, instead of three. Happy :D

No time for my usual things today, I'll see to Jo then have a quick tidy up and water the greenhouses this morning. I'm going to a church service at 6pm, too many people for me really, I'll probably run out of there halfway through to get some space, then sneak back in and sit at the back :D

• Good morning everyone :)

Another lovely day here. The bathroom is empty and ready for cleaning and the towels, mats and shower curtain are in the washing machine.

DH is on the last stage of his marking, tonight he will get everything entered on the computer then post the parcels tomorrow. Can't wait to see the back of this :j

No idea what is for dinner so need to go and raid the freezer, probably salmon as there is still so much from the bargain Ocado shop!

Prom dress was purchased yesterday after much stress and trauma.

Judi - glad to hear DH is home and on the mend x

Well wishes for all sick people and pets and hugs for those that need or just want them. Keep well and safe and have a lovely day.

Morning all

Its been raining here since I got up at 6 this morning, not complaining though as the garden so desperately needs it.

Housework is all done, minus the washing & hoovering but that can wait till tomorrow, dinner is all prepared too, we was going to have lamb casserole but DH fancied lamb roast so having that instead.

I've got a batch of jam tarts cooling on the rack ready for packed lunches next week and a treacle tart for pudding today in the oven, never made one of these so fingers crossed it turns out ok.

Plans for today are, start the pea pod wine, finish dehydrating the fruit, get DS's school uniform and bags ready for tomorrow and that is about it for me, DH is finishing off the bedroom ready for the carpet to be laid tomorrow morning.

Hope you all have a lovely day.

Morning al,

Weather lovely here at the moment, first load of washing out on the airer.

Have just made some more of Lyn's rhubarb breakfast jam to use up some of the rhubarb our friends brought from their allotment.

Himself will be watching British GP this afternoon, so I may make the rest of the raspberry jam if the kitchen isn't too hot. Roast beef and the usual for lunch.

Judi, pleased DH is home and on the mend and I think bad temper is probably the norm for the male species:)

HH, please look after yourself, you don't sound very well at all. If you are not meant to take an appraisal personally what is the point of having one? Not long now before the summer holidays.

Molly hello, how are you doing?

Have a good day everyone if you can.

TTFTM Congratulations for being mortgage free, you must both have worked really hard to achieve that.

Much love

Morning all,

Looks to be another nice day although its a bit overcast atm, bedding is in the wm and I will get dd to strip hers once she's up.

OH has gone to the boot sale so nice and quiet here, we had a nice afternoon out yesterday at the local quaint town of many charity shops, had a wander round and lovely fish and chips then bought some local cherries on the way home and ate them all the way back :D they were delish.

Not sure what we are up to today I think dd might be off to the pictures, I have the shopping to do but that's it. Will see what OH fancies doing.

Have good days all xx
• Morning all, nice here at the moment but forecast to be showery so we'll be dashing for cover between jobs today, still, not quite as hot as it has been so we'll likely get more done between dashings!!!

Going to be sorting out the blanket chest and wardrobes today, I really need to shed some older things we've been holding on to 'just in case' but I'm fairly sure they will be better off in the clothing bank and not sitting on my shelves. Then I'm going to sort out the airing cupboard for the same reason, wish me luck?

Have a good day everyone, Lyn xxx.

Morning all,

thanks for the good wishes concerning hubby, he's a lot better than he was yesterday thankfully. 'I'm not in pain lying down any more' he yelled to me up the stairs this morning. Now ive just got to keep him horizontal now and i'll be laughing!

Instructed to by the hospital, he's taken his thick padding and bandages off this morning. He's still got plasters over the incisions and hes got to wear his sexy stockings for a bit longer but yes, things are looking up.

Must admit, I didn't miss the hassle of grocery shopping yesterday.

Housework up to date, laundry up to date. I can see light at the end of the tunnel.

Onwards and forwards (still not wearing a nurses uniform though),

have a great day all.

Morning all,
Just caught up on y/days posts as I didn't manage to get on here.
REDRUBY, In answer to your question... I bought the Karcher window vacume cleaner. It was £79.99 from Amazon and worth every penny. We have 11 rooms, 4 of them have 3 patio doors, I used to clean them with vinegar and newspaper that took me ages. With the vac I did all of them inside and out in about 2 hrs. I used it on all mirrors and pictures as well. So to me it's well worth the price.

Roast beef dinner cooked for DH, he does the potatoes and veg all I did was the beef, yorks and gravy. I'm having salad as I find a roast a bit heavy going. I chopped up 12lbs of onions and vacume sealed them as the kitchen was over run with all of the free veg, salad and herbs.
More gardening this afternoon after we are meeting friends for a lunch time pint down our local.
Hope you all have a good day.
JUDI, glad DH is less grumpy. ;)
