How many strawberries to feed 20 people

I'm catering for a charity lunch for 20 people and planning to serve strawberries and cream for pud, how many strawberries, in weight, would I need, and how much cream? I don't want to buy more that I need as we are trying to raise money and don't want to overspend.

Hw much pudding are you planning to serve? I once catered for a 'strawberries and cream' garden party and we worked on six strawberries per person (it sounds really tight when you put it like that but it was meant to be just a small portion lol). I think we got about four to five servings per punnet, and we got the strawberries from a local market as they were cheaper. We put the strawberries in small 'cups', so it didn't look stingy.

Cream wise, you can get away with 'less' if you serve whipped, as you do tend to need more pouring cream per portion for it to look 'ok'. At a guess, I'd say three cartons of whipping would give you a good dollop on each portion (bearing in mind that there's always someone who won't want it ...) and probably four cartons of pouring cream. It might be worthwhile seeing how much a large container of cream is from your milkman, if he does that, as it can often be a fair bit cheaper than separate cartons.

I can now report that 5x450g punnets of strawberries gives 20 generous portions, about 10 strawberries each and 2 x 20fl oz of single cream was more than enough.
