Complete Career Change but don't know what

Options
I am thoroughly fed up in my current job and am seriously considering re-training for something completely different. I don't really have any definite ideas, just fancy a change from office admin which I have been doing for over 30 years. I have considered looking into doing something like Beauty Therapy but don't really know where to get advice from or how long it would take to re-train. Any suggestions gratefully received.

One option is to speak to a career counsellor who will help you find out what you might want and be suited to do.

I do this, for a living, and typically it involves a couple of sessions of approx 2 hours.

You don't have a job at the end of it, but you should have a clear direction.

How would I go about finding a career counsellor? This sounds ideal.

You could try yell.com/library/google it for starters.

  • Why not go along to your local Higher Education Colleges' 'Open Day', you may find on offer 'taster courses'- usually loads to choose from.:)

Good luck, post again if you find anything that helps/intersts you.

    Hi ShopnDrop
I'm in the middle of this process myself. You need to avoid getting frustrated and instead plan carefully, build yourself up a Personal Development Plan, there is lots of good stuff on the net about it. Also - bear in mind a Portfolio Career, 2/3 different jobs that go up to make one income. Check the net for useful tips how to do this. I've been planning my move for over 6 mths now, havn't got out yet but alot closer than I was. Good luck

Hadn't thought about this. Something else worth looking into. This site is great when people can make suggestions that otherwise wouldn't have been thought about. Thanks.
