Hi All
I went voluntry bankrupt in June 05 was discharged 15th Dec 05, so i've been a discharged bankrupt now for 18 months, I have a co-op cashminder account, (i cannot get a normal bank account) Ive recently got a joint mortgage with my partner at a slightly higher rate, through a mortgage broker.
So far so good.... but I cannot get a normal bank account because obvisously my credit rating is bad, a disharged bankrupt, i want to try and build my credit rating back up, and i thought a mobile phone would be a good way to go.
But dial a phone turned me down with o2, does anybody know of a mobile company they will let a discharged bankrupt have a contract?

O2 allowed me to keep my mobile contract - I had phoned them, asking to change to PAYG, keeping the same number. I explained that I was due to be declared bankrupt, but needed to keep the same number. They put me through to a manager who gave me a £75.00 loyalty bonus, cut my monthly charge to £7.00, including 100 free minutes. They did, however, remove my international 'roaming' facility (no problem - I spend quite a lot of time in Italy and have purchased an Italian PAYG Sim card). This was back in October, of last year, and I have only just started paying again.
However, to answer your point - I think it will be virtually impossible to get a contract phone, until your credit rating improves - but your partner could possibly get one and give it to you.I am NOT, nor do I profess to be, a Qualified Debt Adviser. If any of my experiences, or the knowledge that I have gained from those experiences, can help anyone who finds themselves in similar circumstances, then my experiences have not been in vain.

Three didnt seem bothered about my bankruptcy although I never tried to go through the application as I didnt have a debit card

I signed up to the T-Mobile uFix tariff for £15 per month. Not many free minutes but as you cannot rack up a high bill (after your allowance it works like a PAYG where you top up first), the credit application was a lot easier and was accepted first time. Now I've been with them for a year I'm looking at getting a 'proper' contract.matched betting: £879.63
