Erudio Student loans

Okay here we go ,

I wrote a letter to erudio appealing the fact that my child maintenance was taken into account for my Income. My child maintained is for my kid , the clue is in the title , its not for me but to be used to buy things for my children.

I'm fuming I stated I CANT use this as a income for mortgages ( unless court ordered ) or benefits . So why are you using it

If it comes to it ill get it put in a separate account for the kids. im a single working mum . I wrote to them stating I was deaf and wanted to communicate by letter and mail , and they failed to respond I,m deaf and have problems on the phone. They cancelled my direct debit ( their error) then sent me an arrears. because of my appeal I had thought they had put it on hold yet they hadn't just not set the dd up with the details I provided.

I'm sorry this is sketchy but I cant afford the repayments and I have no idea what to do apart from complain and fill the earning thingy out she is sending me, but this must have effected my perfect credit rating that has taken me two years to sort since my ex husband walked out.

I'm sorry to hear that you are having problems with Erudio.

I initially had problems with them myself and although I now have deferment, I have a nasty feeling that I am still going to be having problems with them going into the future... You are certainly not alone.

Anyway, Erudio are now taking certain types of benefits into account as income that the Student Loans Company used to ignore.

As far as I am aware, there is nothing in our original contracts to say whether benefits for children can be included as income or not.

Personally, I think it's ethically wrong to include benefits that are for children. But then Erudio, as a private debt company, probably doesn't care!

You are not alone though. There are threads on here, and on Mumsnet, with a number of people who are trying to deal with Erudio.

I would recommend that you visit these threads to see how other people are trying to deal with them.

I would also recommend contacting the FOS, your MP, and any other person (the media?) you can think of that could help with your circumstances.

I hope this helps and good luck :)

Wouldn't Erudio, as a private company contracted by the Government to collect SLC, have no say in what is counted as income or not? I imagine there would be laws in place which say what is to be counted as income and what isn't - similar to calculation of council tax benefit, which is set in law by central government and delegated to local government for collection.

I have been looking all over the place for this , ill go over to mum net as well . I work full time and get CTC and WTC , the childcare element alone will take me over , but if I don't have that I cant work etc etc. this has set my anxiety off again as im dealing with a nasty divorce as well as redeployment at work.

Gross income is defined as being taxable income..

As CTC and WTC are not taxable as well as Child benefit does this mean that they should not be included. Does anyone know what the slc included

the terms and conditions just say gross income.

gross income is defined as taxable income.

Doesn't matter what SLC included as there is nothing in the T and Cs about child benefit etc.
I wouldn't even bother disclosing it to them.

problem being ive already disclosed it . I hav no ida how the hell im going to get deferred . My benefits help me work, they are not there to pay erudio they are there and given me to pay their childcare.

Morgages and loans do not take into account Means tested benefit so why do erudio..... oh that's right because they can.

They are due another payment tomorrow , again I will get in more arrears . Why send you a income assessment form and then tell you payments have to be paid whilst they look at it. ill be phoning again tomorrow. Actually no Ill email them , the reason I want to defer is I'm entitled to it I only earn 17k gross earnings .
