Has anyone used these?

I am looking at getting these and putting them behind our living room curtains but wondered if anyone here had used them before?

They do seem very good value for money, I popped in the shop this morning to have a look.

What makes it "thermal" ? Wouldn't any old curtain do the job as well and look better from the street?

What makes it look bad from the street?

I was thinking of putting these on the window side behind my original curtains.

    hello moments
I have diffrent style curtains all around my semmi.
The sitting room has lovely blue/cream really thick curtains on a pole.
i had to really fight for these on ebay, so cost me. Still really pleased.

The back room/ tv/dining room Has patio doors and thermal lined cream/gold curtains. Some summers i swap these for the blue viola ones I have. I have a second rail with - Think they are called solar curtains.
Silver on the window side and white on the inside.
These are drawn to block out the sun and heat. we bought these in Tenerife years ago and lugged them back in our hand luggage. They had some in our apartment and went looking for a shop that sold them.

    x2 bedrooms have blinds
x1 has thermal curtains and the solar curtains on a second rail.
The secret to success is making very small, yet constant changes.:)

Thanks Good Advice, I generally don't worry what others think as at the end of the day they don't pay my bills! :rotfl:

Great idea about switching curtains for summer/winter, never thought of that. I did pay a lot of money for my hall curtains, they are a tapestry fabric and really heavy but amazing at keeping the cold out!

I have thermal linings for all my curtains that go up in the autumn and come down in the spring (I've got big windows and it makes the curtains very bulky and cuts a lot of light). They do the job and are just a plain cream colour so you'd not notice they're any different that normal curtain linings.

Sorry, Moments of sanity, I didn't mean to insult your curtains.
I was just thinking that if there isnt anything in particular on them (maybe there is?) that makes them thermal there is a bigger selection of ordinary ones that might match the others better if you are bothered about that sort of thing. (I'm not. Every window is different in our house)

I change the curtains around now and then. Put them up at diffrent windows for a change.
The ones in the kitchen now were in the hall/top of stairs.

All my curtains are from ebay or charity shop.
The x2 bedroom blinds were new.

One winter I even hand sewed x2 cream fleece behind a set of curtains.
In winter it is definitely about keeping the heat in. Afternoons and evenings. Mornings, I open most windows to air.

    Moments the curtains look good.

  • It is going to cost £48 which is quite expensive for us at the moment so need to work out the savings. I desperately need a curtain for the back door as we have nothing there but going to be difficult as there isn't a lot of room for a curtain
