Good quality sunglasses

I really suffer from the glare of the sun so I am looking for a pair of good quality (preferably polaroid) sunglasses. Looks are not so important (though I'd prefer to not look a complete div).
Anyone suggest a source wth a good price?
TIA

Well, there's a million and one places you could try! Are you after a cheap pair or a designer pair? You could try https://www.devilwear.co.uk for designer sunglasses but there's a mix of cheap ones and top of the range ones.

Personally I wear "Hacket" sunglasses, why? Because they are well made, current pair are over two years old and still solid. I have tried Ray Ban, and they too can be OK, but they are an "old" company, noy one of the latest fashion house lot.

Most designer glasses are rubbish. OK, I am expecting to be flamed here, but just LOOK at them, check the hinges, try and flex/bend them, look at the little details. A cheap pair of Foster Grants are often as well made and cost £5.00.

    Prime example of rubbish, Oakley.

Most people cant see past the name. And the fact that they think people will think they are clever/rich if they wear a name.

Its the old question. Name or quality.

    IMHO

hi, you get what you pay for!
in my opinion ray ban are the best sunglasses you can get with the best lenses.
i have been sensitive to sunlight for about 10 years, and since i bought my first pair about ten years ago i have never suffered since. they are brill!
i have now convinced my wife to buy them and she has noticed the difference!
    they are made in italy!
currently d and a have a sale on at www.designersunglasses.co.uk and you can get a further 20% discount using code YAW20 and even more through Quidco!

get ray ban, you will NOT be dissapointed!!!!:j

  • Thanks for the replies.
I am not bothered about looks (much) or brand name just quality. Rayban seem expensive - if this is because of quality then I would go for them but so often one hears that you are simply paying for the name and that lesser or unbranded names are as good. Any more views?

I buy the Boots polarising sunglasses. I'm not fooled into buying 'designer' sunglasses, I'd rather buy quality polarising sunglasses at around £25 from Boots instead.

Polarising sunglasses are especially good at cutting the glare on water, whether I'm on a boat trip or sat at the water's edge fishing.;)

    Hi,
I couldn't agree more with jammiev. Our neighbours had some friends visiting and he happened to be an optician. He asked if my sunglasses were genuine Raybans and I said yes. He then went on to say, they are without doubt, the best lenses in the world. Believe me, the difference between 'ordinary' sunglasses and Raybans is incredible. My only grievance is, I find their styles slightly 'old fashioned' but it doesn't stop me wearing mine. I think they must be 10 years old, still going strong and I wear them nearly every day! Regards - sally
