Twitter Comps - am I missing something?!

Hi

Just a quick query about Twitter comps, I have been having a go for about a month now (no wins but never mind!!) and I notice that the same people seem to be winning quite regularly... are they just really lucky or am I missing something vital?! I never know whether it is best to just press retweet or whether I should be sending a little message too (so I do both!!)

Cheers xxx

    I've won twice (in a year!) I don't send messages…I just retweet!
The problem with twitter is the shear number of entries for each prize…its much harder to win on twitter than any other entry because its so easy to enter!
Plus those people who win regularly may ONLY do twitter comps so they are more likely to pop up on your feed as winners as they'd have more time to enter more!
Hope this helps and good luck xx

Ah, I'm glad somebody bought this up because I've noticed quite a few competitions on there where the winners have 100's if not 1000's of followers when sometimes their entry (where it's an effort comp) is clearly not the best!

I suppose some companies would rather have the increased publicity that comes from these 'popular' winners thanking them etc.?

Anyway, it's just a theory, now let's all follow each other and see if it works ;)
  • Thanks everyone, I too wondered if it was related to how many followers you had - I'll just keep ploughing on then...am I the only one who finds freebiefriday exhausting haha?!

I follow some of these people and enter all the comps they post. I'm probably adding to the problem tbh. #losing

I do the occasional retweet compy, though I wouldn't fill your timeline.
Long time away from MSE, been dealing real life stuff..
Sometimes seen lurking on the compers forum :-)

after reading this today I made an effort to re-tweet comps more than once and I won! (a bottle of iced tea…but its my first win in ages!) so maybe thats the key…entering the same comps more than once!
