Friday 4th July - What small DFW things will you do today?

I think the fact it's Independence Day in the US is quite appropriate to the DFW journey.
Anyway...
When we start out on the Debt-Free Wannabe trail we do loads of big "stuff" that makes quite a difference to our situation. These include having our lightbulb moment, cutting up the credit cards and cancelling Sky and the Gym.
But once we have done the bigger stuff, we often feel that we are not making the same amount of progress, when in fact the small steps are helping us form good financial habits and helping us get closer everyday to staying in control and becoming debt free, or staying debt free...
Examples could be hanging washing out instead of using the tumble dryer or leaving your purse/wallet at home to avoid the risk of spending. :money:

I checked it was Friday this morning before I got excited :rotfl:
The work isn't entirely done - the new carpet arrives on Wednesday. At least the painting will be finished though. I had to give the cat a haircut last night because he rubbed up against the freshly painted doorframes :rotfl:0 -

Morning Friday Savers,
A few bits from me today:
*Cleaned whole house using minimal products.
*Mr f volunteered to get the grocery shopping & came in on budget. £7 saved for fruit & veg stall on market tomorrow, so another week of meal planning paying off.
*Check & water veggies, weed beetroot bed.
*Received voucher through post for 2 free 400g bags cat biscuits, as part of rescue cat adoption package.
*Make fudge for a friend's birthday.
*Knit (item currently on my needles is for the present box)
*Read library book.
*Pick sweet peas. They look pretty & are free room fragrance! (esp as I grew them from free seed)
Have a good Friday.
Ziggy, my biggest nephew is also off to secondary school in Sept. Can hardly believe it. Seems like yesterday I was playing Thomas the Tank Engine with him!
F x2026's challenges: 1) To rebuild our Emergency Fund to at least £5k.
2) To read 50 books (12/50) 3) The Re-Shrinking of Foxgloves 8.1kg/30kg
Remember....if you have to put it on a credit card, extend your overdraft or take out a loan to buy whatever it is, you probably can't afford it, as that's not your money, it's somebody else's!0 -
Hello all - happy Friday :T
Was looking forward to a long weekend, Tour de France is coming our way on Monday, all the roads are closed and the school I work at is closed too. But am snowed under so am taking work home - rats!
Got a lift to work today. Hubbie has taken car for new tyres (£169 which is about what I expected). Hate spending money on things like that though.
Overspent at @ldi yesterday - am I the only person who can spend a small fortune in a budget supermarket? Thing is, it's a bit of a drive but sooo much cheaper that I make the most of the journey by bulk buying. We reckon we've now got enough food etc to last at least 2 weeks.
Wish we had a Morrisons - am envious, that sounds like a proper bargain.
I forgot toilet paper though
brain like a sieve these days.
Today I am working, have had breakfast at home and am about to eat my packed lunch. Curry for tea tonight is all made and just needs heating up.
Later I am going to sit in the garden with a glass of something chilled and enjoy being outside, listening to the birds. The pigeons that keep fornicating on the shed roof do spoil the ambience at times, and the blighters keep eating all my berries. Maybe I should take up shooting.......
Best wishes all x0 -
Today I have/will:
1. Checked online banking
2. NSD
3. Meals from stores
4. Surveys
5. Free Postcode Lottery
6. Water veggiesTesco: £1361.19, Vanquis: £2644.73, Very: £563.08, Next: £1636.95, M&S: £1049.92. As of 5th February 2024. Slava Ukraini0 -

Busy Friday but all week has been spent getting a house, benefits & furniture sorted for a homeless guy we picked up last Friday night. Have a good weekend!0 -
Earned my £6.50 at lunchtime today so that's been added to my spending money pot.
I normally have "walk four miles" as an aim for the day but I wrenched my back this morning trying to pick up my handbag (!) so I won't be walking far at all.
I've taken the money out to pay the decorator today. It's nearly done!!0
