Easiest loan to gt with poor credit?

I have a perfect credit history except a recently noticed default from Lowell who claims I am responsible for some obligation that I have nothing to do with.
I am fighting them over it and they are unable to provide proof but still will not remove the default.
I need a loan for a few thousand but my bank and everywhere I have tried said no.
Is there any other options apart from last option to put it on my credit cards and try and swap it every time before statement is due (stoozing) while I slowly pay it off.
I have agreed credit limit on my cards but am worried about making a mistake and getting loads of charges.
Is there anywhere I can try for a few thousand loan with one default on my file?

Have you not answered your own question already?0 -
You can request that the CRA's remove the default whilst it's under dispute. Chances are you already have way too many searches on your record now to make anybody want to lend to you, though.Credit 'Score' - Don't buy the credit 'score' that Experian, Equifax and Noddle want to sell you. It's an arbitrary number that means nothing when it comes to applying for credit.
ALWAYS HAVE A DIRECT DEBIT SET UP FOR THE MINIMUM PAYMENT ON YOUR CREDIT CARDS, REGARDLESS OF WHETHER YOU PLAN TO LOGIN AND PAY EACH MONTH.0 -
I don't think that is quite right.thebritishbloke wrote: »You can request that the CRA's remove the default whilst it's under dispute. Chances are you already have way too many searches on your record now to make anybody want to lend to you, though.
You can ask them to remove anything that is wrong on your file - a default in dispute IMO does not come under this.0 -
Perfect credit file don't have defaults on them.
If Lowell's have been involved at all it must have been for a defaulted account.0 -

I have written to the CEO of Lowell to try and get it removed as the alleged default is due to fraud.
what do you mean too many searches on my record? I only got turned down once this was the first I knew about Lowell putting a default on my file.0 -
You said everywhere you tried turned you down. Have you only made 1 loan application, and that was with your own bank?0

your first post implied you had tried more than one application0 -

If you can't get a loan because of the default you more than likely won''t get a new credit card while the default is there either so your not going to be able to stooze. Plus getting a new Credit card every month isn't really going to work.0 -
It sounds like you will struggle to get a loan at anywhere near a sensible rate if you can get one at all. A default is pretty much on a par with a CCJ on your file, all you can really do is focus your attention on fighting it right now.
I fought to have a default removed from my account about 2 years ago, it is a slow process but it can be done, I wasn't far from a year from start to finish. Keep copies of everything, send everything by registered post and keep plodding away, if they can't send you proof of the debt, they can't enforce it and need to remove the default from your record. There are template letters on this site for fighting them, you will probably need to tailor them a bit for your own circumstances, but they are a very good guide for tone and the process. Have you been in touch with the Financial Ombudsman yet?0
