Hope you can help me. I have 8 friends coming round tomorrow evening. We'd planned a barbeque, but thanks to the *Great British Weather* it looks like it'll be rained off and we'll be indoors.
Instead, I'd like to cook a simple but tasty dish, preferably one that doesn't take much last-minute attention. I have access to the butcher, farm shop, deli and Co-op.
We'll start with bread, olives, and whatever else I can find. Pudding will be lemon cheesecake, profiteroles, and fruit salad.
My mind has gone blank, and I can't decide what to cook
Help, please
Penny. x

I always love chilli, lasagne etc when I go out or curry. Easy to eat and just a big pot on the stove where people can help themselves. With rice or Pitta bread or warm french sticks. mmm lovely.
PS everything else sounds scrummy what time is it????0 -
Yes make a huge lasagne and have garlic bread etc with it and/or a lovely green salad. It will be easy to make and you can freeze any leftovers for another day. Also means you are not stuck in the kitchen all the timeSaving in my terramundi pot £2, £1 and 50p just for me! :j0

Hi Pen-Pen - I'm just back from holiday a few hours ago and haven't slept for over 24 hours so probably not in the best state of mind to offer suggestions. However, when away I had the best ever Chicken Cacciatore with pasta in an Italian restaurant (in either San Fransisco or Las Vegas, not Italy!!). I used to make Delia's version and found it to be easy and delicious. Good Luck. (BTW - I'm enjoying the British weather after the 40 degrees heat that I've been experiencing for the last wee while

What about that lovely looking pasta dish you posted on the veggie summer meal planner? You could serve it with garlic bread and salad.May all your dots fall silently to the ground.0

Shouldnt we be starting by asking what youve got in and need to use up:beer: Well aint funny how its the little things in life that mean the most? Not where you live, the car you drive or the price tag on your clothes.
Theres no dollar sign on piece of mind
This Ive come to know...
So if you agree have a drink with me, raise your glasses for a toast :beer:0 -
mate of mine always has chilli and rice/jackets and a cold spannish tortilla with spicy tomato and garlic salsa, at her many parties. this always goes down well but depends on if your guests like spicy foodLead us not into temptation...
just tell us where it is and we'll find it....0 -

This is a firm favourite in my household! Very easy to do and even more tasty if prepared the previous day..
Serve from pan, along with rice, french bread etc.

Egyptian lemon chicken - chicken joints in olive oil, butter and lots of lemon juice and garlic - roasted - great with salad and new potatoes. Baste it a few times“the princess jumped from the tower & she learned that she could fly all along. she never needed those wings.”

We're having friends round on Sunday for late bithday lunch after a few drinks at the pub first
glass of dry martini or champagne on arrival with nibbles
Starter
feta cheese and tomato salad with black olives and warm crusty bread
main course
Chicken breasts in pepper sauce,
carrots glazed with lemon butter (and perhaps some caraway seeds, haven't decided on these yet)
Green Beans with ham or bacon
Crunchy roast potatoes (special request from OH)
Pudding
Sliced banana, with chocolate mousse mixed with a drop of Baileys sprinkled with white and dark chocolate curls
Glass of champagne
followed by Coffee and liquers, after eight mints and or chocolate truffles
All washed down with copious amounts of sangria, red wine or sparkling water
then a siesta:j
Hopefully most of it will be prepared before pub visit, main course meat etc cooking during pub visit0 -
