DFSD motivational ramblings part 2

Some of you may recognise me from the boards many moons ago...

I first started 'rambling' about my debts back in 2008, when it suddenly hit me that our loan and credit card debts were in the region of £50K - it both shocked and scared me into doing something about it and over the following 5 years or so, I did all I could to save money and make extra pennies to throw at the debt.
We finally managed to clear our debts after selling our house in 2013, although we did acquire a (relatively low) mortgage.

In 2012 I started my own business and it has since done very well, much better than I ever anticipated; and this allowed me to raise the cash to replace our cars last year.

Yes, there's a 'but' coming....

The past 8 months of my life have been pretty horrific and I feel like a completely different person to who I was back then.

My husband and I made the really difficult decision to go our separate ways after a long time of things being 'not quite right'. We get on as best friends and love each other dearly, but as friends, not as husband and wife.

The worst part of it all, is that we have a wonderful, funny, amazing 3 year old son who we both absolutely adore. He is, quite simply, our World. The decision has not been easy at all, but we felt it was better to remain good friends and the best of parents to our son, rather than to grow apart and start resenting each other in years to come.
Is it the right decision? I don't know. But its the one we are sticking with.

I will say more about our situation later on, but to sum it up, this period of turmoil has meant I have taken my eye off the finances and have been spending money like water. We are back in debt, to the tune of £18K or so, but this will be cleared when the imminent sale of our house goes through.

At the moment, it is hard enough to get through every day, so I am doing what I can to limit the debt and trying not to worry too much about it, but I do have to tackle it and get my head in the right place to do so when I can.
At the moment, life is one big black hole, but I am hoping this improves for us all very soon.

I have sold some bits on ebay this week, which is up to around £80 so far so I am making steps forward, but it's definitely one step forward, three back at the moment.

I will update and explain more about our difficult situation a little later.

Sounds like it's been tough. Good luck :)
