Advice needed on paying tax on jobs

Hi All,
Can someone wiser than me about these things please give me some advice in relation to my current situation? I am going to university in September as a mature student and have been working two jobs to fund this. In the past few weeks I started a third job because it worked out well around my other two jobs but I was paid for the first time last night and they gave me a little brown envelope with cash in it, which worked out at £5 per hour worked.
I work 37 hours in my main job and my tax code for that is 1000L, then on my second job, where hours vary (but usually around 8 hours), my taxcode is BR W1.
The third job I will be working approximately 10-15 hours a week and my intention was to keep both part-time jobs on when I return to university and have to give up my full-time job, but I have worked out that depending on the number of hours I work through the rest of the year, I will be just over the £10000 threshold at most.
I'm not sure how the third job works, I figured the reason I get £5 an hour is that they pay the tax deduction and just give me the cash?? Although they haven't asked me for any details, they only know my first name so its a bit strange!
Is it detrimental the way the third job is paying me in terms of a tax rebate next year?
All advice is welcome!
Thanks.

not really quite enough details but
you main job presumably brings in more than 10,000 per year so allocating the tax allowance to it is the correct thing to do.
the second and third job should be taxed at 20% so BR is correct for both of them
for your third job you ought to have a payslip showing your gross and tax deducted.
once you go to Uni and give up the first (main) job the situation changes but you haven't given enough detail.0 -
Sorry!
I work through an agency for the first two jobs. First job I earn £8.32 per hour and second job is minimum wage.
What else do you need to know?
The third place is family run and I don't think they give wage slips. Do you know if they are paying me correctly?
Thank you for the advice!0 -

If they have deducted tax then your gross pay comes out as £6.25ph (assuming no NI deductions).
I assume that you are aged 18-20 so NMW is £5.03phAlthough they haven't asked me for any details, they only know my first name so its a bit strange! This is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0 -

in general, if you are employed you are legally entitled to a payslip showing your gross and net pay.
When you give up the first main job is September you will probably have paid too much tax so it will probably be beneficial to tell the HMRC to re-allocate your tax code to the other jobs
how much do you expect to earn in the first job between april 2014 and September?0 -

ask for a payslip, it is your legal right

Sorry for not providing enough information.
The third job is a waitressing job so I just assumed I would be getting minimum wage for it. I'm 24 by the way so I know I should be getting £6.31.
From September - April next year, I would hope to be working between 18 and 20 hours a week part-time, which is why I took my current 3rd job, my current 2nd job cannot guarantee me that number of hours then, however some weeks I'm sure I'll not be able to do that many due to university placements.
Sorry again for the lack of information and thanks for your help. I just want to make sure incase I need to find a different job than the 3rd one I currently have.0 -

Have you given the third employer your National Insurance number? If not then although it sounds like they are withholding 20% of your wage, which is what the tax would be, they have no way of handing it over to HMRC so they are probably just keeping it. If HMRC find out they'll be in trouble, and it's likely that they will want to take a close look at your employment history and tax records too.0 -

it's important to get a payslip for your third job
best to come back in September when you give up the first job and we can advise about how to have your tax code re-assigned to your other jobs and so to minimise your tax0
