Moneysaving loophole at Dominos pizza

I'm not sure if this is quite the right board, apologies if not, but OH and I discovered a moneysaving loophole at Dominos tonight and I thought I'd share.
Basically, we found out that if you order your favourite pizza as a "make your own" instead of ordering it via its name, then it is cheaper! :beer::money:
OH usually has a Texas BBQ, and tonight he ordered it as a make your own, adding all the same toppings and it was about a fiver cheaper! :T
From now on, we're going to order all our pizzas as make your own. Makes a treat night even better!

Why not make your own ??? If you have to buy one get it from the supermarket and save a shed load more......
Mark up on Dominos is unbelievable...worse than a short term loan !! And very bad for you..0 -

A bit dramatic. That's a useful tip OP, thank you. I usually make pizzas at home, but sometimes cba or am short of time and Domino's is our choice for an occasional treat and we find their pizzas far tastier than any ready-made ones available in the supermarket. Also they make available nutritional values for all their pizzas online - some options are obviously much healthier than others, but it means you can make an informed choice if you're concerned about fat content and calories. We always use one of their deals and these include the Create Your Own ones, so I'll try your tip next time.0 -
How did you manage to get the texas bbq a fiver cheaper? I just tried it and it was 20p cheaper. :-s0

Most of the meal deals and offers specify they are only valid for pizzas from the menu or make your own up to four toppings. Most menu pizzas have more than 4 toppings so if you are using a meal deal or 2for1 this may not work out better.
What I often do is remove an ingrediant I don't like then add something else. As long as you only remove 1 and add 1 there is no additional charge even with a meal deal. For example I don't like mushrooms on the Mighty Meaty, so swap them to meatballs!
Edit: Also I just tried this for my local Donimo's and it worked out 60p more expensive for Medium and £1 more for large to add the toppings to create your own instead of ordering from the menu. Maybe your local franchise has very cheap topping prices?0 -

We had a deal as well; buy one get one half price. We bought two medium pizzas (one was make your own anyway) and when we did it as a Texas BBQ it was £5 more expensive than if we did both as a make your own.
We did try swapping toppings too but the cheapest way was to do make your own. We ordered online so could play around with it for a bit. I had four toppings on mine and OH had however many is on a Texas BBQ which I think is five.
I can't believe it's only us it works for!:cool: DFW Nerd Club member 023...DFD 9.2.2007 :cool::heartpuls married 21 6 08 :A Angel babies' birth dates 3.10.08 * 4.3.11 * 11.11.11 * 17.3.12 * 2.7.12 :heart2: My live baby's birth date 22 7 09 :heart2: I'm due another baby at the end of July 2014! :j

I found a better loophole: if you want a takeaway (and your nearest store has one) try one of the Tesco make your own. 14" with any 4 toppings plus your choice of base, sauce and a bout 2 blocks of cheese on top for only £3.70. We had one the other night and we couldn't finish it all! Definitely getting your moneys worth!0

Isn't the idea of a takeaway because you cant be arsed to go to the supermarket and cook it yourself ?
Yes it bad for you, but sometimes i think you are allowed a treat0 -
Yes...but Dominoes. For either £11.99 plus £1.20 per topping 6 toppings costing £17.99 for 10 slices of pizza you could instead drive to a local budget restaurant and have dinner out for the same price (excluding drinks). Pizza is the easiest meal to cook. Take excellent quality pizza out of freezer put in oven wait 20 minutes remove, cut and serve. Exactly the same time as it takes to ring one and wait for delivery.:footie:
Regular savers earn 6% interest (HSBC, First Direct, M&S)
