what is a fair amount of fun money?

I give myself a limit of £200 a month for "personal spends" and for me that includes clothes, haircuts, beauty and toiletries, going out to the pub/cinema/meals, takeaways, a bottle of wine, books, DVDs etc. Basically anything that's non-essential.
I've given myself that limit but I don't plan on spending it unless I would like to (so if I have £75 left the day before payday its not an excuse to blow it all on clothes or whatever.) Its a high amount because I'm an all or nothing person; if I give myself £40 I'd end up spending it and then wanting more, think f**k it and blow money from another budget. Its weird, but the more money I have in a spends pot the less I actually want to spend it!0 -
I consider things such as clothes as "fun money" as apart from work stuff I don't really need to buy many but I suppose I choose to. I always foolishly follow my football team around the country which is an expensive hobby.
At the moment I have about £200 per month for myself but once I am debt free it should be closer to £500 which will make me a lot happier.Start Date 02-09-2024CC1 £569
