Anyone getting grief off Income Support to claim maintenance DON'T DO IT. you'll be left without the cash and they won't give a monkeys

Unfortunately as things stand, if you are a parent claiming Income Support and there is a child with an non-resident parent on your claim, you do not have any choice as to whether or not you can claim maintenance. A claim for income support is treated as a claim for maintenance also, and you are required to pass enough information on to the CSA to enable them to trace the non-resident parent, unless you have good reasons not to. Failing to do so without a good reason will result in your benefit being reduced.
