Scotcall - 10yr old debt
[Deleted User]
Hi
Just like some advice scotcall have started writing to my old address which I still collect post from every now and again chasing a HSBC debt that I haven't heard anything about for around 10 years - do I just ignore the letters or should I contact them?
I assume this is classed a statue bared given the length of time anyway?
Thanks

It sounds likely it would be statute barred (assuming they haven't taken court action).
I would send them the statute barred template letter. Other people say to just ignore them.
The reason I would go for sending a letter is it there is always a risk they will take court action on a SB debt and if you didn't pick up the letter in time to put in a defence then the CCJ would be granted and its a pain to get it set aside through the courts.

You assume right.
10 years...geez, they really are scraping the bottom of the barrel.
In your case, given the length of time and if you are absolutely sure you fit the requirements for statute barred, ie, no acknowledgement, no payment and no ccj, then I would simply ignore them. Completely. Dont even start with them or you'll never get rid of them.Debt Free! Long road, but we did it

Thanks Tixy
Should I be as concerned as they don't have my current address, so to their knowledge I haven't received this letter as I haven't lived at the property they've sent it to since February
