Typically you would not get this far if they had detected this, so whilst not in the clear until you have the keys; I would suggest you have got incredibly lucky and likely to be ok..
Aye. I suspect Equifax is clean and nothing in the case has triggered a manual search.

    Shows on Experian.

My credit is fine, I have an outstanding loan on my car but I've never had a missed payment or a default. However I've only actually taken credit out about 2 years ago, so that I could build up a credit history. I'm really careful with money, hence why my partner has been fine for the last 12 months, as I now manage all the outgoings.

You mean shows on Experian only, or Experian is the only version you've checked?

Either way, I speculated the answer in my reply to DH.

How has the question been answered on the actual application ??

I believe the question they ask is :

Has any applicant had a County Court Judgement (CCJ) or default registered against them or, if self employed, against their business ?

If it's as it should be with a "yes" answer then you should be fine. If not then it leaves you in a difficult position.

Aye, I'm assuming it's been answered "yes" but the system hasn't picked it up as it's not visible on Equifax.

I would be surprised if was answered yes, as this would almost certainly decline based upon date and value.

I was also 99% sure Halifax use Experian and potentially Equifax post offer

Weird. Recently we've had a search by BoS using Equifax and a manual search with Call Credit turning up adverse data which got us a decline three days after acceptance at full application.

That's what I thought Dave. The OP doesn't say whether they used a broker or went direct but it would be interesting to see what is on the actual application. With the size of the default and recent date you'd have thought it would be declined somewhere along the line.

Saying that, I'm sure we've all seen them go through because this system or that hasn't picked something up. Not the basis for a confident application though !

Agree entirely, I think it will be seat of the pants stuff until completion as well outside criteria.

In terms of credit files, I am 99% the first step is Experian for AIP and Application and then if business assessor and/or credit decisioning get involved then they have access to the other 2 credit files for cross referencing.

They also have access to expand linked addresses and through associate addresses, which the historic ones will not sure on a client Experian report if they have not declared these as historic addresses (typically in any case)

Our mortgage advisor is aware of the situation and made our application. I can't see why she would lie on the form.

We have only checked experian but it's definitely all on there, so a secondary check on equifax would turn up nothing different. They've done a soft search on experian so I can't see how the computer doesn't know about it already?
