Just bought some diced carrots, onions and mushrooms online to put in my slow cooker with a view to reheating after freezing but on the packs it says 'do not reheat', can this be so with veg? I find it wasteful otherwise as I have ordered a few packs and won't use them all in one go and want to freeze and reheat the stews I make.

They will not poison you, the flavour may change, but most, except experts, will never notice
I freeze stews, casseroles often , still here to tell the tale
Often the "do not reheat" is a get out clause, like "may contain nuts"Eight out of ten owners who expressed a preference said their cats preferred other peoples gardens0 -
It's amazing how these earthy vegetables are covered in plastic. If you reheat these plastic vegetables you'll be on the John for a long time with a dippy tummy. Avoid.0

I make stews out of prepacked veg that I bought on yellow stickers for pennies. I make a big pan full, and freeze in portions, to heat in the microwave at a later date. I don't add meat to it. I am still here to tell the tale.

I am in agreement here with Ilona and Farway. I never buy these packs at full price but do if well reduced. These then go into soups, stews and casseroles to freeze, when cooked, in individual portions. My family have never come to any harm!"If you dream alone it will remain just a dream. But if we all dream together it will become reality"0

I too have used pre packed veg ,but only when its been reduced to pennies I certainly wouldn't bother with them otherwise.I have made them into soups stews casseroles etc ,very useful for very little outlay.I have never been ill through freezing and reheating when defrosting either.Possibly a 'cover your !!!' warning from the packers

I get by chopper out, BoPsie peels the carrots and I can clich! and dice them in no time. I have never bought pre processed nitrogen environment enriched muppet food. Bargain carrots normally about 20p. Not 75p reduced for stale food, or £2 a packet.0

Like others I've bought the whoopsied veg (chopped carrot and swede) then frozen them as they are. They make as a quick addition to soups which I've frozen again if that helps. (I've also discovered recently that I can plunge a handful of them into a bowl of hot water while preparing salad. Well drained, they had a bit of colour to the salad bowl, although they are a bit softer than raw.)The beautiful thing about learning is nobody can take it away from you.
Thanks to everyone who contributes to this wonderful forum. I'm very grateful for the guidance and friendliness that I always receive from you.

I often see these bags of mixed prepped veg on the Reduced Fruit/Veg Shelf in my local supermarket, but they always look as though they're already 'past their best' - which puts me right off even considering them
.
However, I DO buy the small packs of sliced/cut/whole green beans when they've been reduced a couple of times - perhaps around 30p.
I get the impression that it might be the presence of the carrots in the packs that could be making them look rather wet/slimy/unappetising.

Isn't it odd how these small packs of whole/sliced or cut green beans are priced at around £2.00 and no one buys them,;) and great when they get reduced to about 20-30p.I buy them then and bung in the freezer:j I just think they are overpriced in the beginning0
