When we start out on the Debt-Free Wannabe trail we do loads of big "stuff" that makes quite a difference to our situation. These include having our lightbulb moment, cutting up the credit cards and cancelling Sky and the Gym.
But once we have done the bigger stuff, we often feel that we are not making the same amount of progress, when in fact the small steps are helping us form good financial habits and helping us get closer everyday to staying in control and becoming debt free, or staying debt free...
Examples could be hanging washing out instead of using the tumble dryer or leaving your purse/wallet at home to avoid the risk of spending.:money:
Morning :wave: Been up since 5 :eek: started to come down with the cold dgd has had last night and felt poorly so went to sleep at 7.30! Not feeling so bad today.
Let's see how far I get with my list today!
* check banking
* sand skirting boards on staircase
* go up in the lift and get the next size car seat
* clean up current car seat and list on facebay
* all meals from stores
* make tomoto & pesto tart
* (rubber) chicken pesto for dinner
* taking dgd to music group this morning £1 for the session :T
* got free parking permit for group
* Change BB supplier
* change gas & elec supplier
* pay plumber
* bake cinnamon buns
* vacuum & polish bedroom
Ok that seems terribly ambitious! Have a lovely day
ziggy hope you're feeling better today :A
Welcome karen777 & moohound
Hope the car wasn't too expensive princess_pea!
just hi to everyone else! x

Hello all and welcome back Ziggy. Sorry to hear of your troubles, hope you are feeling better today. As for contributing to the thread - most days I struggle beyond "I came to work and brought a packed lunch with me" :rotfl:
So today:
- I came to work and brought a packed lunch (had breakfast at home)
- dinner will be Spanish omelette, using up some cooked potatoes
Otherwise I am a bit stressed at work which has overtaken any money stresses. Maybe I'll check my bank accounts later. Who knows, son1 may have actually transferred his keep money over (has been promising to do this since Monday last week).
Oh and it'll be a no spend day.
Best wishes all x0 -
Hi Penny savers,
Today's money saving efforts:
*Pegged out laundry which I washed overnight on Economy 7 tariff.
*Rubber chicken for dinner. Veggies prepped already.
*Sliced & froze a leftover green pepper lurking in fridge.
*Made tomorrow's packed lunch & work snacks.
*Emailed a defunct magazine to say I accept a 3 months free trial of something else instead of a subscription refund.
*Watered veggies. Lots of little courgettes setting now :-)
*Did a very few surveys as am pretty much up to date with them.
*Read 3 chapters of library book outside in the sunshine. So great to be able to go & borrow books for free. Public libraries are dreadfully threatened by the austerity cuts. If we don't use them, we'll lose them!
*Back on the healthy diet as I know a few lbs have popped back on since Easter. This is great for the budget as portion control means that food lasts longer. Also free fitness, as did aerobics DVD this morning. Nothing like jumping around in your bra & pants to help set one's motivation for the day!
*This afternoon's plan: Transplant baby leeks to raised bed. If time, begin tidying up herb bed, which will include cutting bunches of herbs to dry indoors.
That will take some time, so I'm going to sign off the internet (aka Thief of Time), afix my mini DAB radio to my head & take myself off down the veggie garden.
f x2026's challenges: 1) To rebuild our Emergency Fund to at least £5k.
2) To read 50 books (12/50) 3) The Re-Shrinking of Foxgloves 8.1kg/30kg
Remember....if you have to put it on a credit card, extend your overdraft or take out a loan to buy whatever it is, you probably can't afford it, as that's not your money, it's somebody else's!0 -
Hello and happy Tuesday lovelies!
Well today I am focusing on my financial life by:
1. Cook all food eaten today.
2. Work on my online business.
3. Meditate.
4. Walk the pooch through the forest later on.
5. Look for free meditations.
6. Coming here to keep my motivation high.
I think that's about it. Have a great day everyone!
Debt as of March 2018, £794 rent arrears £4273.7 debt, £900.70 in pay day loans, total £5968.40 :eek:. Total debt today £5968.40
