Im having confusing responses to Travelling Expenses for Interviews, I have been told no sory you have to use your savings to do that, but I have had to do 2 journeys to manchester at approx £30 a visit and one more is due to Essex and also St Neots, as I live in Shropshire these are hefty journeys, years ago they used to pay them automatically, I am going for Sales Engineer jobs and most Head Offices are not in "my patch" anyone else comment on this?? I have asked around and some people have been given them in other areas providing the journey is more than 90 mins away...doesnt seem fair some get them some don't?

No company has to pay travel expenses for interview, it's just nice if they do.0

Ask before accepting the interview if there will be a contribution to travel expenses.0

Fortunately the government is setting up an "Ombudsman of Fairness" office at the moment, who will be able to adjudicate in instances such as this. Basically, if you come across any situation in adult life where you think that someone else gets something that you don't, then you will be able to take the problem to them, and they'll (in theory) redress the balance.
Your sounds like exactly the sort of thing that they'll want to look into. I've already asked that they take up my case when they open (my issue is that my wife gets more holidays than me).0 -

1 Ask the prospective interviewing company in writing whether they will pay your expenses.
2 If they respond "no", take this to your Jobcentre together with information about the cost of getting to the interview (by public transport if cheaper than car) and ask again.
3 If the adviser says "no", ask that their manager is asked.
How long have you been claiming JSA?0 -
I have only been out for a month - maybe if you get to Income Based they will pay youBetter to light a candle than to curse the darkness. :beer:0
