Can you haggle much with jewelry stores

Im looking to buy something from beaver brooks over £500.

I want to know anyone here had experience with them and managed to haggle prices down.

Or anyone now of any voucher that they will accept?

My parents bought me a ring, from Beaver brooks, for my graduation a few years ago. It was £450, my dad paid for it in cash and then asked for 'cash discount' - I didn't know there was such a thing! They promptly gave him 10% off. I asked him about it afterwards and he said that most large jewellers will give you 10% off if you pay in cash.

I doubt it's because he paid in cash - most shops selling high margin merchandise will give you a discount if you just ask!

Another similar thread - just under 20% discount offered, and the OP was going to ask for more.

Presumably you've looked online for the same item?

Remember - jewellers work on very high profit margins. A 10% discount should be pretty much automatic, and 30% or so achievable in the right situation. Somewhere between the two (maybe 20%) should be perfectly feasible, particularly if you make it plain that you'll simply go elsewhere.
