Well today was a great day for me, I managed to clear one of my debts!! Although I have paid off my overdrafts this year, this was the first where I have rang up and asked them to cancel my credit account.
GOODBYE STORE CARD!!!
I had the card, with maximum credit, for about 5 years... 5 YEARS!! always paying the minimum and paying a lot in interest. So it is with great pleasure that I never have to think of it again! 1 down, 2 more credit cards to go!
Big thanks to the whole forum and those dedicated enough to keep everyone up to date with the progress on a daily basis. I couldn't have done it without you!

I think there's a lot to be said for closing an account and knowing it's gone forever - not just paying it off. I recently closed two having paid them off. As it happened, they were the two cards that charged the highest interest rate. But with hindsight, I think even if they hadn't been I might have chosen to close these smaller ones first, and then get started on the larger ones.
There is something very satisfying about not only having it paid, but knowing there will never be a statement again, that you never have to remember to pay that account this month, and that it needn't occupy any of your headspace at all.
Happy days!0 -
