Hi All,

Ex has been self emplyed for as long as I have known him (10 yrs+) has CIS card, however he owes loads to IR for failing to return tax returns etc...

Do i stand any chance of getting csa from him?? I can provide an address (as he has to notify court of any changes due to dv issues & contact etc) but don't have a clue where he is working just know that he is (he speaks to our son and tells him ) plus father in law has mentioned that he is working

Half of me not sure if i can be bothered with the hassle of claiming and the possibility of it causing repercussions from him but other part of me thinks the money is for my son so why shouldn't he get it.....

In a word - no.

Not being funny but if he doesn't pay his tax bills, he certainly won't be paying his Child Support payments! In any case, the CSA have to get evidence of where he works and how much he earns which he won't provide (almost guaranteed). Before I get shouted at, I am basing my assumptions on the OP's information and the facts that remain that Self-Employed are notoriously difficult to get a) info out of and b) the CORRECT income details c) Money out of!!!

Of course, not all self-employed people are like that let's be fair about this, but the CSA have many, many problems with those who are.

I'm surprised that the IR aren't taking legal action against him to recover the tax?

As i thought i don't stand a chance really!! (rant rant:mad: )

IR has sent him letters in the past (when we were together about varying fines he owes etc but nothing more than that) since he has gone I have informed IR of his new address etc (I was fed up of getting his letters) but other than that I don't think they have acted on it yet...

Oh well I suppose I will just carry on without anything from him (jst adding to the list of things which seem unfair at mo!!) main one being overpayments of TC eventho it was him who didn't give them his details I am one having to pay it back!!

Keeping my fingers crossed that one day all the cr*p he has given out will come back & bite him on his ar** !

You and I have the exact same circumstances. Also paying back overpayment and he has escaped them.

I have basically give up with regards CSA but I am proud of the fact that I can still give my kids a happy stable family life without the help of there absent daddy.

He's prob playing the IR the same way as the CSA.

They can only presue him if they have a confident addy about him.

how do we know he isnt being persued by the IR ?

They have a better enforcement process than the CSA, I get frustrated because I seen both enforcement sections and have asked why the CSA cannot adopt the IR's way of collecting overdue tax and just get fobbed off.

Ronnieink have you tried ringing your local IR office and asking to be put through to the RIAT section who deal with tax fraud ? or tried ringing the tax evasion helpline ?

Do you know where he works (location) ? If he's in construction he possibly has a van with the livery all over. Could you not try and get a pic of him in the van.

I have contacted IR and 'shopped' him for not paying n continuing to work etc. I def have an up to date address as my little one goes for contact. but as far as work van.....He's too bone idol to actually learn how to drive lol!! he relies on others. At time of contacting IR I did tell them basic location of where he was working but he has moved works now nd i dont know where too just know he is working. Thanxs for suggestions tho
