    Agree with the last couple of posters.

    No offence OP, but your plan is terrible.

    You could apply for a loan for more than you need so that you get a lower interest rate but keep in mind that this will mean that your monthly repayments will also be higher.

    And rather than keeping the excess money for a rainy day, use it to make an immediate overpayment to the loan.
