When we start out on the Debt-Free Wannabe trail we do loads of big "stuff" that makes quite a difference to our situation. These include having our lightbulb moment, cutting up the credit cards and cancelling Sky and the Gym.
But once we have done the bigger stuff, we often feel that we are not making the same amount of progress, when in fact the small steps are helping us form good financial habits and helping us get closer everyday to staying in control and becoming debt free, or staying debt free...
Examples could be hanging washing out instead of using the tumble dryer or leaving your purse/wallet at home to avoid the risk of spending.:money:
Morning :wave: Much happier Monday for me from most suspect as I am out of work for 2 weeks before starting my new job :j Last year I was between jobs for 6 weeks and it's great you relax in a way you don't when you're on holiday from work.
Trying to think what to do today. Think I'll take dgd to the soft play this morning, it's still free until Friday when she's 1 :T
It's quite hard to do very much with a 1 year old to entertain!
DFW things I'll try to do today:
* check banking
* do monthly finances
* all meals from stores
* get a cheesejack out of the freezer for dgd's lunch
* take snacks & drinks to soft play
* sand skirting boards on stairs
* go for a walk this afternoon
* change BB supplier
* pay plumber
* put up hooks in bedroom - have had to clear out wardrobe in spare room and no wardrobe in ours, current all our clothes are on the floordrobe
* read book this evening
* check onepoll
ok think that's all I'll manage! Have a great Monday everyone x

Morning all.
Unusually early post from me as hubbie was feeling well enough to walk the dogs this morning (need to make sure he doesn't overdo it) and I am in work already. Am meeting a friend for lunch - local pub does good £5 lunch deal which will be a nice treat.
Today I will work, check bank accounts, laundry line drying, meals from plan (had lovely "roast" yesterday - special offer pork steaks, roast and new potatoes, carrot and swede mash, broccoli and roast onion gravy - all the veg apart from the swede was free from market trader my son helps in the line of his work) sort out some paperwork this evening.
Have a good day all x0 -

Hugs Ziggy - hope you feel brighter soon - always nice to see a friendly face! I've been the same with not contrubuting not feeling like I help but I do the small things everyday and its how I've paid off me CC's etc
So it does work so we should all pop our faces in (when we feel) even if we don't feel like we help much
More cordial brewing here - has Aldi still got sugar at 68p/kilo?

Hi Money Savers,
A productive morning......good, as I need to tighten things up around here. Not happy with the bathroom fund going backwards instead of forwards. Think improving some of my self-sufficiency tendencies will be the key.
*Managed to do 2 loads of washing on cheap overnight tariff.
*All drying outside in the sunshine.
*Did rubber chicken. It did roast dinner for two last night. Have divvied it up for fajhitas tonight, Chinese-style rice tomorrow, a packed lunch, & have made the rest into a pie with various veggies which needed using plus leftover gravy. Have topped it with sliced potatoes & will freeze for a hearty free meal next week.
*Chicken stock bubbling away in slow cooker.
*Made bread dough - 12 rolls now proving on the hob.
*Make tomorrow's packed lunch & work snacks.
*Prepped veg for tonight's meal. Did crafty little skim of the pepper tops, diced & froze ready for next time I make a pizza.
*Picked fresh herbs & made a salsa.
*Picked salad stuff needed for meals today.
*Did a few surveys.
*Phoned in code for a free knitting mag.
*Delve into recycled jar cupboard and then......
*Go out & pull some rhubarb & make rhubarb jam.
Will probably get some more of my knitting done later (for the present box) but we have a new cat & he really, really likes to be entertained!
Ziggy - Sounds like you've been having a bit of a week. Hope this one is better!
f x2026's challenges: 1) To rebuild our Emergency Fund to at least £5k.
2) To read 50 books (12/50) 3) The Re-Shrinking of Foxgloves 8.1kg/30kg
Remember....if you have to put it on a credit card, extend your overdraft or take out a loan to buy whatever it is, you probably can't afford it, as that's not your money, it's somebody else's!0 -
