  • I use Easiyo at the moment but will switch to the Simply Yoghurt ones when I have run out of the stock I already have, as Simply is made in this country.

I would say using a yoghurt maker is still 'homemade' as you don't buy it from a shop, but to go really homemade, it's so easy to make it yourself! I bought a wide mouthed flask (£5 from Wilkinsons), a carton of Basics UHT milk (35p), a tub of skimmed milk powder (which will last for ages and was about £1.50) and 4 basics low fat yoghurts (27p).

I fill the flask with the milk, heat it in the microwave for about 2 minutes (until I can hold my little finger in it for about 20 seconds!), then stir in a tbsp of yoghurt, 2 tbsp of skimmed milk powder, put the lid on the flask and hey presto 7 or 8 hours later I have yoghurt! The consistancy changes every time depending on quantities used, what type of yoghurt I use etc, but thats part of the fun :D I'd imagine this works out quite a bit cheaper than buying the sachets etc, and for not much more effort. Either way, homemade yoghurt is yummy and I can't stand the suger laden stuff I used to eat from the shops now!

    Hello Tracey,

If you have a read through these older threads hopefully you'll find the answer you are looking for:

    Yoghurt making help again please

Yoghurt - Easiyo or make your own?

    Easiyo problem

Simply Yoghurt - anyone tried this brand?

There are too many threads on yoghurt making to list them all, but if you do a search you should find some that will help.
