How to be Skint but still Sparkle on the way to a better future......

Options
Hi All

First post to my diary after a LBM and much revision of these forums for some time I realise I need to get my finances in order one way or another.......(i'm sure there's a song lyric in there somewhere)

The Plan
Budget & stick to it.
If it has to bought on CC, Overdraft, Loan its not being bought!!
Make do & Mend
Packed lunches for work
No takeaway coffees/meals
No clothes (will make do I have a bursting wardrobe)
No toiletries (except where I generally have run out of essentials like Toothpaste & Deo)
Weightloss

Sparkle
I start a new job shortly, after a period of unemployment which has led to the financial difficulties. As its a new job and I want to make a good impression I don't want my personal business spread about the workplace so I need an outlet to vent it all otherwise I might explode..... Messy thought that.... so thanks you guys for those that wanna share the ups and downs of trying to sparkle my way out of skintdom.

Things to do today
New starter forms
Housework
Sign up to some challenges to keep my motivated :o

Recovering from sickness myself and my other half last night, only seems a fleeting thing but both of us definitely going to be on light gentle foods tonight. Got to brave the shops as the milks date is today and I don't want to risk anything if both tummies are fragile. Had a lovely weekend away all paid for by OH. New start tomorrow getting myself all psyched up for a brand new job which for me feels like a move out of my comfort zone but onto bigger things :o. Just hope I can Impress.

    Hi Skint and Sparkly

Firstly, well done on your new job and good luck for your first day. Secondly, great layout - I love it, easy to read and digest... I may 'borrow' the achievements section for my diary (first instalment completed today).

Good luck on your journey, I look forward to reading more and follow with as much motivation and enthusiasm. GF :) x

Day 2 of the new job completed and WOW, feel like I fit in more in the new place already than I did in my entire time I was at the previous job. It must be home my mug is already in the tea room:rotfl:... Priorities

Thought I might need the umbrella for my trip home.... was saved by the passing of raincloud 15 minutes before I left.... all still sparkling :p

Thanks for the compliment Garfield, its partly down to trying to remind myself why I am here and what my aims are so they become habits and partly because it simply helps me stay positive about these hard changes. There are so many little achievements we all do on a daily basis but we forget them so easily because they may seem small and not worthy. If it helps you too by all means "borrow" and I wish you all the best in your journey.

Week one down at work, need to source a suitable bag as my handbag just isn't going to cut the mustard, small pencil case, practically speaking. and find my decent winter coat, its somewhere in this damn house, but can I find it! its like its been morphed into some kind of disguise.

This horrid weather has also forced me to unearth some of my winter scarfs, not that I have a shortage lol I can certainly sparkle on this front :rotfl:.

Looking forward to a lie in tomorrow :T right now time to sit down with my Orange juice and chillax lol

Can safely say been thrown in at the deep end with the new job, no one in the dept has been there more than a month before me as all predecsors left, Actually enjoying the fast pace although felt a little in need of a chillax day today.

Had fab news about OHs job they have asked him to work 6 days in exchange for letting him have a garenteed weekend day off each week so we get more chance to spend some time togethor. Regretably my days are early starts his are late finishes and to be honest its been a bit one in one out for the last 3 weeks but we just laugh and joke about it and it allows us to save up some more funds.

    Things to do today
    Food shop - done
Record all spends so far this week on spread sheet - done higher than i would have liked but OH bday bits there too
    Chillax
