Not sure what forum to post but here we are. Slightly weird question but one that pops up a lot for me and has had certain affects on applications.
I am medically retired from the police and receive a medical ill health final salary pension, index linked etc....very nice but....
When I apply for things I am always asked for occupation, I put down retired (no room for medically retired) and get told your too young and yes for state pension I am. I can't put down Police officer anymore, not unemployed, not a student, homemaker or anything else on most companies list do you see my see slight confusion?
I have a healthy income per month due to large pension contributions for yrs and it never seems to be believed or considered because of my occupation status

Would 'self employed' cause you too many issues?:heartsmil When you find people who not only tolerate your quirks but celebrate them with glad cries of "Me too!" be sure to cherish them. Because these weirdos are your true family.0

Making a living selling items on ebay is classed as self employed. You can prove a nice income anyway if they ask for proof of your income.0 -
Voluntary worker?
[well, you contribute on here! Won't that count?]
No, I don't think all other drivers are idiots......but some are determined to change my mind.......0 -

A bit like me, being a 'civil servant' [which I am]....but my 'profession' is something entirely different.....which doesn't involve desks, computers or pinstripe suits.....No, I don't think all other drivers are idiots......but some are determined to change my mind.......0

You should continue to put 'Retired'; it doesn't matter on what grounds.
There are many, many people that retire before the state retiremant age, so I wouldn't have thought you would get questioned by many companies, and for the odd ones that do, just explain

Yes, i don't think you should have to make something up as what you really are is perfectly legitimate and it is just the silly forms which are not right."'Cause it's a bittersweet symphony, this life
