Mortgage PPI

Can anyone advise - I had a mortgage from 1998 - 2002 on which I am pretty sure I paid PPI and also had a huge early exit fee to pay which I would like to try and claim back - I have destroyed all paperwork and cannot for the life of me remember who my mortgage provider was at that time - How would I find this information out??? Help

    You won't.
Only you could know who it was now.
Exit fees are not reclaimable. They would have been part of your mortgage agreement.

What is wrong with paying a huge exit fee? It was probably an early repayment charge (as that is the only potential "huge" fee that exists on mortgages. These are deemed fair and lawful and exist for a very good reason.

Most MPPI complaints are rejected. It is one of two types of PPI that are still retailed today. Main reasons for that are that most are standalone monthly premium (which is how good PPI should be set up) and it covers a major long term debt with lifestyle changing consequences if it goes unpaid. Also, MPPI tends to be better quality than loan or credit card PPI and has less exclusions or onerous terms.

What would be your reasons for mis-sale?
did you buy it from the bank or via a broker? (important as most brokers were not regulated until Jan 05).

Land Registry? Do they keep historical records of the charges register?

I honestly don't know. Perhaps somebody else does.
