Benifit help during pregnancy

Hello there,
I have a situation that is hard to solve. We are having a baby in December 2014. Myself and my husband are living in a studio flat in London and the rent is £700 my husband's income is £18,000 and I am a fulltime student studying at uni. We've been told that we are not entitled to any housing benefits or any financial help towards the baby until born, this puts us in an awkward situation with my husband the only working person in the house the money that I get from the Uni is not sufficient enough to help pay the rent and any expenses for the baby.
I would just like to ask what financial help or benefits I am entitled to during my pregnancy and after as a student. I am 4 months pregnant.:question::question::sad::sad::sad:

Your student loan should be used towards the rent. What is it being spent on? Can this be addressed?:j Trytryagain FLYLADY - SAYE £700 each month Premium Bonds £713 Mortgage Was £100,000@20/6/08 now zilch 21/4/15:beer: WTL - 52 (I'll do it 4 MUM)0

Go and see your Welfare Service at university. They will explain to you what benefits if any you can claim.
It is however most unlikely you will get anything until the baby is born. it would however be your husband who claimed, not yourself.
Can you get a summer job?If you've have not made a mistake, you've made nothing0 -

Hello. I only claim maintance grant which is £1118 a term this is not enough as i pay for travel which is £150 a month - I study outside London. This only leaves me with an amount that is sufficent for necessities. I sometimes go into overdraft. This amount of money is not enough to help pay the rent. Thank you.0 -
How were you surviving before you got pregnant?0

Your husbands income should be enough to pay rent and bills...You will not be able to claim anything until the baby is born and even then you may not get housing benefit on an income of £18,000 . Having a baby is only expensive if you want top of the range and brand new items you will never use. At 4 months you have 5 months to buy what ever you need, and by looking on ebay you can save hundreds of pounds.0

OP just a quickie......you have actually posted on the child support forum...as in the CSA-child maintenance.
You would be better posting on the correct forum, Benefits & Tax Credits.0
