Can I work for an 'umbrella' company if temping?

Hi Folks

I recently started on a temporary job which is going to last about 6 months, through a recruitment agency. The consultant made it clear that I am not allowed to work through an umbrella company.

Does anybody know the laws regarding this, or does each recruitment agency have their own rules and regulations regarding umbrella companies?

Thanks

Hi geek84, I can't answer your question as all Agencies have different rules and it may also be something to do with the company you are working for. Can I suggest you look at this site: http://www.contractorcalculator.co.uk/Umbrellas.aspx

They may have the answer you need.
