Anyone know where to buy paraffin oil, preferably Lisburn but Greater Belfast is fine. Thanks in advance!

Kerosene and paraffin are the same think. But can have different sulphur content.
It's for hurricane lamps and paraffin stove. Yes, even in this day and age!0 -
No kerosene is not the same as paraffin. Paraffin is a much more refined fuel than kerosene which is used in domestic oil heating. Never, never use kerosene in lamps and stoves. See link for some information.
Paraffin is hard to come by but I would have thought available at a good hardware store in pre-packed form.http://electricheatingcosts.com/class-c1-paraffin/0 -
I have tried to get some in B&Q yesterday and today. 4 litres for about 7 quid. Sold out in Boucher and Holywood stores but should be back in soon0

Local hardware stores. Try the following:
Hatch Bros Finaghy. Tel: 9061 4526
Munn's Lisburn Road (opp M&S Foodstore and the Chelsea wine bar). Tel: 9038 1057
Or, a little further afield but another great wee hardware store......
Dawson Wright, Woodstock Road,East Belfast. tel: 9045 03810 -
Got some today in B&Q at Sprucefield, but at that price I wouldn't want to go there again! It's 2 or 3 times what I expect to pay for paraffin but any port in a storm!
How did I not think of Munns? That guy has everything, super shop and has been for years. Thanks for reminding me about him.0 -
Yes indeed sulphur content of paraffin (C1) is much reduced to kerosene for but it also has much higher smoke point and a higher flash point compared tp kerosene (C2) used in vaporizing or atomizing burners , connected to flues..0
