Asking for an interview to be rescheduled...

I have never been in this position before so was wondering what success rate people have had when asking to reschedule an interview?
I've posted before that I'm on a Fixed Term Contract which I'm now in the final weeks of. Unfortunately this is now the busy period of my contract and my current employer has introduced a ban on time off meaning I can't make the interview slot I've been offered. Have phoned the recruiter but can't get a hold of them and have now sent an email.
The interview is in a week's time and I've offered an alternative date and times. I'm worried though incase they can't accommodate my request and how I then deal with my current employer as I can't really afford to miss any potential job offers when I'm going to be unemployed soon!

If you decide to take the time off I can't see that your current employer can do any more than withhold pay (possibly for the whole day) and refuse to give you a reference - well, they could dismiss you for gross misconduct, but that would be shooting themselves in the foot if they need you to work.0

I rescheduled an interview by email and it was fine i told them due to short notice. It was two days later they wanted to see me but short notice to change around for work. Also if they said I no I would have used that the vacancy said they were interviewing later date than they asked for,Mortgage free wannabe

Thanks for this, family and friends have also pointed out that this is possibly the worst case scenario. I've never had any problems in any job before so I'd hate to tarnish my employment record now but at end of day I'm going to be unemployed soon and have bills to pay.I rescheduled an interview by email and it was fine i told them due to short notice. Thanks, fingers crossed the recruiter will be understanding!!0
