Why do Employers always get the hours wrong?

"drones"? I might work on being nicer about the people who will fix your problem...!2021 GC £1365.71/ £24000

The very first place I worked had different cut off dates for regular hours, overtime, commission and awards. We werent just talking one being the last friday and the other being the last thursday but one was the 3rd friday, one was the penultimate wednesday, one was the 20th and the last one was something else again. Of cause this was all based on when the signed off sheets were received by Personnel and not time worked etc.
We were all positive it was done in such a complex way to make it too hard to track what you should get paid.
To the OP - certainly not all companies get it wrong and sometimes when they get it wrong its to your favour. I suspect in most cases its down to carelessness or incompetence rather than a plot to reduce their staffing costs.
How do you record your time? Do you do a timesheet signed by someone or...? You need to cross check your records with your managers and see where the shortfall has come from.
In most cases employers will rather roll forward a shortfall (or overpayment) and just mop it up in the next run but if they admit they've made a mistake and it really is critical for you then a plea for compassion will probably result in a extraordinary payment.0 -
It is annoying, its happened to me the last 2 months in a row. I work 2 jobs so it is more manageable though. My work will process an 'emergency' payments (3 working days) which gets taken from your pay in the next pay run. Not sure if they have to though. If you are suffering hardship as a result I would mention it encase they have a policy although not sure they have any responsibility to help.0

It also sounds like you are being paid a month in arrears. You didn't get paid the first month as details had not been given in time, this month you have received pay owing from May hence not a complete month. Next month will be corrected accordingly.
Re; the email to the boss. I assume you could not phone him and speak directly? I always find this better with matters such as this.
In regards to employers getting the hours wrong often in my place of work its the staff not always understanding that you get paid the hours due to work then adjustments are paid the following month when hours actually worked are received. This can come as a bit of a surprise in march when you receive only 28/29 days pay if you do not anticipate the system. Having said that there are occasions when an incorrect amount is paid due to human error - either from the person filling in their hours incorrectly or adding up wrongly or can be from payroll's end -this is soon rectified by a call to the pay office.
As sweetilemon suggested - do ask if you can have an advance but only if you really need it.Back on the trains again!0 -

Timesheet system
Pay period
Pay date
Payroll cutoff for time sheets/overtime/expenses.
Form to make sure payroll have the bank details.
P45/P46 to make sure the tax is right.
I agree with you, every employee should ask about the pay system because it is the right of every employee.0
