From Tracker to Standard?

Options
My 2 year Tracker (- 0.25%< base) with Abbey expires in 3 months and then reverts to base. Currently I owe only £8500 with 8 years to go. I have £1000 which I could pay of a proportion of the remainder. I could easily increase my repayments from £110 to £250 PM. Neither of these moneys would infringe on my current/furture budget. My question is:- Which of these, or both, would be most finacially advantagous in order to have the morgage paid off in say 4/5 years. How would I go about this?

Due to low balance- remortgaging is unlikely to be an option, however don't pay base ask if they will swap you a a new rate- again ensure no fee, they do have some products like this

    however CARE
Abbey have some strange rules about overpaying on certain products, ( in some cases if you overpay one month they reduce the DD collection the next!) so best chat it thro' with them
