I want to hand in a letter of appeal to my employers, can anyone advise whether I write it on the envelope or the letter or both, and where do I write it. I hope this is the write forum, if not I apologise
If youcan lie down at night knowing in your heart that you just made someone’s day just a little bit better, you know you had a good day!!

Why do you need to write it anywhere? The lack of a stamp or post marks on the envelope would illustrate it hasnt been posted0

I want to ensure it is known that it was hand delivered because of the content and it has to be in by 1700 todayIf youcan lie down at night knowing in your heart that you just made someone’s day just a little bit better, you know you had a good day!!0

Hi Freddie,
On the envelope, write "Hand-delivered" in the top-right corner where you would normally place the stamp. On the letter, write "By hand" below the recipient's address, e.g.:
Miss E. RuthnJasper
Jasper's House of Pain and Pleasure
11 Portland Place
LONDON
WC2 1AB
BY HAND
27 June 2014
Dear Miss RuthnJasper,
Thank you for your letter....
Hope this helps. Best of luck with your letter! x0 -

One place is as good as the next.
Arguably on the letter itself is better as depending on where you are sending it etc the envelope may be discarded before it gets to the recipient.
On the flip side of cause anyone can write "Hand Delivered" on a letter and then post it anyway.
Often marking an envelope as Private and Confidential may prevent post rooms from opening it/ discarding the envelope but not always0 -
can you get someone to witness you handing it over? or ask for a signed note, acknowledging receipt.Long time away from MSE, been dealing real life stuff..

Yes I did have a witness and also surprisingly, got a stamped receipt, so that part has gone well, thank you to all that offered advice ;-)If youcan lie down at night knowing in your heart that you just made someone’s day just a little bit better, you know you had a good day!!0 -
You should write "By Hand" or "Hand Delivered" with the date underneath at the top right hand of the envelope where the stamp would have gone. Don't know what I'm doing, but doing it anyway... :huh:0
