Policy matured - how to find the ex?

Hi there,
Looking for some general advice.
My wife and her ex took out an endowment 20 years ago. It has now matured.
He agreed that she would get all the proceeds, but the Life company want a form signed by him to that effect.
She eventually tracked him down to his workplace, but can't raise him by phone and his premises looks shut.
Is there a protocol for this eventuality? Must happen every day of the week nowadays.
Or how do we track the guy down?
Any help is much appreciated - its worth thousands!

Verbal agreement 20 years ago. She spoke to him on the phone a month ago and he agreed again. Since then he has been sent forms to sign, but the Life company haven't received them back yet and his voicemail is now full. Nothing in writing yet. That's the whole crux of the matter.0

Protocol? Yes, you sort it at the time of separation.
Perhaps a Facebook search is the most likely way to find him.0 -
Instruct a trace report by one of the PI-type companies. Shouldn't cost much, especially if they have recent information about phone/work etc.0

He may also, have changed his mind and want his 50%, and he will get it as there is nothing in writing to say he does not want it.0

When I separated 20 years ago, the jointly held endowment policy was re-assigned to 'single life only' in my name, at the same time as I took the mortgage on by myself. (An added benefit was that the premium also dropped a bit).
I hope things work out for your wife and that the ex does the honorable thing, but for anyone who may be in the position of separating now, my advice would be that in matters of finance you can't be too careful, and please sort it out legally.Official DFW Nerd No 096 - Proud to have dealt with my debt!0 -
Also try searching on Linkedin. It's a good way of finding people if you know what sector they work in and have a rough idea of location.0
