Draught beer in quantity

Any suggestions for an event I'm holding for 100 people over 3 days, I'd like big barrels, at a reasonable cost.
Potentially just warm ale, but I think cold lager might be a good idea. Not sure about costs, perhaps it is cheaper to get a big bucket, some ice and lots of little bottles!?

Our local pubs offer small barrels, I think they're like 30 pints for 50 quid or something, but they're real ales made by our local brewery (Burton Bridge)
If you have anything similar in your area just ask about. Our Rainbow Twins born 17th April 2016

What sort of event? Make sure you don't need a temporary license. https://www.gov.uk/government/collections/alcohol-licensing-temporary-events-notices0

Private party.
I contacted my local brewery, they want £140 for 72 pints, which is a bit steep IMO. Supermarket lager much cheaper, but don't really want to have to dispose of all the bottles.0 -
I was going to mention the exact same thing....Burton Bridge, the Old Cottage, the Coopers Arms, Tower Brewery...and loads more around here. Any small brewer will do small barrels light enough to be able to carry but still contain plenty of beer. You can even approach the big breweries such as Marstons or Coors and get a barrel from them or you can approach your local pub and ask for a barrel. You'll still need to keep it cold so you can borrow a insulation jacket from somewhere and/or keep the barrel in a cool place such as a garage or shed. Our local pubs offer small barrels, I think they're like 30 pints for 50 quid or something, but they're real ales made by our local brewery (Burton Bridge)

If lager is the beer of choice a chiller is required. Warm lager is a big no-no. A chiller, tap and gas can be hired. I'd probably prefer to hire glasses, get loads of ice in and get lots of cans instead but it really depends on what type of event you're holding. 500 cans (assuming 5 cans per person per day) may be too much to even fit in a big tub and it's very informal and you'll need to dispose of all those cans somehow.
edit:crossposted with you.. You got the idea. £2 per pint is a reasonable price for good quality ale.:footie:
Regular savers earn 6% interest (HSBC, First Direct, M&S)
Loans cost 2.9% per year (Nationwide) = FREE money.

I live near the Coopers and Old Cottage
Well, if I'm bragging, I live opposite Coors Brewery
