Hi everyone im new her.not sure were to start but il give it a go.i need to clear my debt.they are gettin me down and effecting every part of my life.
Im a single dad.ive had my daughter on my own from 6 months old which has changed my life dramatically.the last 4years have been a struggle with child care costs etc but my daughter starts school in sept so cost reduced and a pay rise coming so its time to attack this debt so i can get out of this cycle.
Just thought i would start this diary to keep me focused and motivated.i will list my debts below and hopefully i can get these reduced.

Santander odraft £1000 £20 a month
Santander cc £1290 0% £20
Vanquis £2980 39.99% £135:eek:
Idem(was mbna) £5670 0% £40
Barclaycard £330 29% £8

Total £11270

Scary when you write all this down! Im skint over the summer with childcare costs but from sept im hoping to hit 500 a month of this if i can.obviously vanquis will be gettin done first.
Tried to get a consiolidation loan from santander but said no.i missed payments on my mbna card when i was left with my daughter as i came out of work for 4 months so went into and arrangement and then they sold the debt to idem so my credit rating was low.its now fair but no joy.
Anyway im hoping to pay 450 a month of vanquis from sept.im sick of living with this noose round my neck with no saving etc.its not good.i think life will be easier if i can get on top of this.thanks for reading!:)

Hi Horizon! It's very scary putting it all done, bu is a really useful first step.

My opinion is being turned down for a consolidation loan is probably a blessing - you can deal with the debt you've got rather than taking on another one and, as many of us have found, risking sliding back into debt on the old cards so making even more to pay off!!!

If you look around the boards, you'll see SOA (statement of affairs) mentioned - posting one on here can be really good to see your incomings and outgoing in black and white and you'll get lots of helpful advice on where you can save money. There's the link in various places but if you search for SOA it should be easy to find.

Good luck to you and your daughter.
